That article is really interesting. The Autism lab at UCSD is amazing and is really making amazing findings in the autism world. The more we learn about autism, the better we will be able to understand it, and therefore treat it. Do you find this valuable?

Interesting. useful for the classroom? probably. It's always powerful to know the science behind the diagnosis. The bit about extraneous nuerons not being severed makes sense with some of what i've observed. That is the tendency for easy overstimulation of the student with autism. Having Extra nuerons firing may support that self stimming and intensity, yes? Do you find this valuable?

I think that brain research is really interesting. It is amazing what researchers can learn about human behavior, emotions, etc. by studying the brain. I read an article recently that described brain differences in people who meditate; I forget the specifics, but brain scans showed that they actually have more activity in the area of the brain that houses the emotion of compassion. I feel like the more we learn about the brain the more we realize we don't know! Do you find this valuable?

I would like to add that I liked the slide show we discussed in class last wednesday about the brain research and "ANTS." I can totally relate to the philosophy with my personal life and I observe symptoms from my students that I would suggest stem from this. Keeping the most important thing in perspective is an important skill for all of us, because when life happens or stressors are stressing one might be able to keep focus to help from becoming overwhelmed. Being overwhelmed, can bring negativity, which makes it hard to gain energy and clarity through a grateful lense. NO ANTS Do you find this valuable?
